Our first 'show' bitch to the Melafella Kennel
we were delighted when 'Dolly' came to live with us.
There is so much I would love to share with you about Dolly, no one will
quite understand how much this bulldog meant to us, she was faultless and
is so dreadfully missed. Three key memories I have shared with you and I
hope you enjoy reading.
I will never forget when I first saw her with her litter mates, she simply
stood out, beautiful, as perfect as perfect can be, we knew she was the
one, this small red and white wrinkled bundle, pushing her way to the
front of the puppy pen.
What a proud, overwhelming feeling when we brought her home.
Dolly, never disappointed, a pleasure to own, love and show off.
Always wanting to please she was a natural in the show ring and the first
Bulldog to
attend Consett's Ring Craft. An immediate 'hit' with all there.
At six months of age Dolly competed in her first Championship Show, in
fact her first ever show, Dolly was awarded
First Puppy Bitch & Best Puppy In Breed,
Dolly continued her winning ways and was always a pleasure to handle.
In 1999 Dolly 'graced and delighted' us with her first and only litter,
Sired by Belushi Woodcutter Of Princebishop (our Dylan) a wonderful
litter of seven, five bitches and two dogs. We named this litter the
Magnificent Seven.
A quality litter of reds with white (our trademark colours) three of which
have and continue to have success in the show ring
Our two girls - MELAFELLA VINTAGE MORGAN - Morgan
MELAFELLA ANISE TASEEYA - Becky
and litter brother
MEALFELLA TYNE N BEER - Bosun
never forgetting the remaining four, Pixie, Stripe, Moon and Jack.
Dolly's daughters, Morgan and Becky have now produced and graced us with
litters of their own and Dolly's Grandchildren and now Great Grandchildren
continue to follow her pawprints in the Show Ring.
So many precious memories,
My Dolly - sadly taken from us in 2001.

I STOOD BY YOUR BED
I stood by your bed last
night,
I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying,
You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly
As you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you,
I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast,
I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times,
Your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today,
Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels,
I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today,
You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you,
That I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house,
As you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you,
I smiled and said "It's me."
You looked so very tired,
And sank into a chair,
I tried so hard to let you know,
That I was standing there.
It's possible for me,
To be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty,
"I never went away."
You sat there very quietly,
Then smiled, I think you knew…
In the stillness of that evening,
I was very close to you.
The day is over…
I smile and watch you yawning,
And say, "good-night, God Bless,
I'll see you in the morning."
An when the time is right for you,
To cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you,
And we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you,
There is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out…
Then come home to be with me.

I AM NOT THERE
Do not
stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

'DOLLY'
you came at nine weeks, a small bundle of fun
Our red and white baby with a fat little tum
Later came ring craft and the start of hard work
Our true little natural not once did you shirk
Then in to the show ring came good times and bad
But those are some of the best times we had
You gave us a litter, and what a wonderful mum
Your children carry on more good things to come
Then on that sad Sunday morning you were taken away
Our hearts there all broken and words just can't say
Just how much we miss you, your unique little ways
But you will always live on, forever your memory stays.
Love and miss you Dolly.
